What will you be doing?
This role will focus around the design, development and support of a new HR Data Warehouse platform. These will be delivered as part of either the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) or the Lean Control Process (LPC) depending whether the project is considered to be waterfall or agile. Responsible for
Design and implement an HR Data Warehouse & MI solution using Ab Initio, SQL and Data Modelling
Work with business owners, business analysts and solution architects to understand business requirements and solution design
Translate functional and technical requirements into IT solutions and prepare documentation and specifications for build and for support handover
Estimate level of effort required to develop code that meets acceptance criteria
Design and develop subject areas within a MS SQL Server data warehouse and any MS SQL applications required to support the HR MI&A team. This will include the end to end development of Ab Initio based ETL process from various source systems into with SQL databases.
Coordinate with other onshore and off-shore developers, deliver working code
Expertise in modelling data for building the Dataware house.
Conduct peer reviews and provide documented constructive feedback
Ensure development meets all the specifications and has successfully passed all tests including unit, integration, regression and system tests
Demonstrate tractability from functional design to technical design, through to testing
Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
Tier-3 support and production release support- respond promptly to requests from the support team in order to resolve user queries and handle technical issues that are out of scope for the support staff.
Profile server resource usage, and optimize and tweak as necessary
Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
Responsible for the technology implementation of changes
What we’re looking for:
Strong proficiency on data warehouse product stack and architecture
Proven experience in delivery using Ab Initio and Data modelling
Strong proficiency with MS SQL and its variation among popular databases
Proven experience of metadata management and data quality management using Ab Initio
Proven experience of managing an ETL delivery team, leading and coordinating delivery across the development team
Previous experience within an HR MI & Analytics area
Experience with some of the modern relational databases
Skilled at optimising ETLs to reduce the overall execution time
Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational and star schema databases
Skills that will help you in the role:
Exposure to Data lake and Big Data infrastructure
Experience of HR enterprise systems like: SAP HR
Experience of productivity tools like: Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence
Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it
